Women Health Care Executives of Northern California (WHCE) is a professional association dedicated to the advancement of women in health-related careers. The WHCE Undergraduate scholarship will be offered to a third-year undergraduate student dedicated to pursuing a health-related career. The $2,500 scholarship and a one-year complimentary WHCE membership are awarded to a student who meets the eligibility and selection criteria.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Female undergraduate student committed to pursuing a health-related career, i.e. health care services, public health, health care policy and research, health care management and administration, nursing, medicine, health technology, health law, etc.
- Must be a third-year (junior) student, entering fourth-year college in the fall. Must have one full academic year of study remaining.
- Must be a resident living in the San Francisco Bay Area (Counties include San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Contra Costa, Alameda, Santa Clara, San Mateo)
- Must be in good academic standing
- The Scholarship Winner is expected to attend WHCE's Annual Woman of the Year event
SELECTION CRITERIA:
The WHCE Lynn Adamson Memorial Graduate Scholarship is conferred on merit, but financial need may be considered. Recipient selection is based on evidence of achievement in the following:
- Leadership – demonstrated experience as an effective leader.
- Scholarship – demonstrated academic achievement.
- Integrity of character – demonstrated integrity of character. A successful candidate is a positive influence on her peer group and displays qualities such as compassion and empathy for others, interest in and respect for others, humility, honesty, loyalty, courtesy, courage, and maturity.
- Preparation to meet key challenges in health care – demonstrate preparation to meet key challenges facing healthcare today
- Contribution to health care – demonstrated personal or professional strengths that allow contribution uniquely to health care.

March 17, 2025 midnight PST. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered, no exceptions.

- Resume (2 page limit)
- One reference letter, either academic or professional; reference should note how the applicant meets the selection criteria listed above
REFERENCE LETTER:
Letters must be signed and submitted by the individual who wrote the letter before the application deadline. Applicants are strongly encouraged to forward the Selection Criteria to the individual submitting the reference letter so that they can write the letter accordingly.
FAQS:- I live in the San Diego area; can I apply for the scholarship? No, you must reside in the San Francisco Bay area.
- What should be in my recommendation letter? Your reference should note how you meet the scholarship criteria in the recommendation letter.
- Any other things that I should do? Make sure that you have submitted all required documents online. Check to make sure that you received the correct transcript, check for grammar and spelling and follow the directions. Do not submit more documents than requested (e.g. more than one reference letter)
- When will the scholarship awardees be notified? The awardees will be notified by April 7th. Due to the large volume of applicants, we may not be able to notify everyone.
